Nature is not only all that is visible to the eye it also includes the inner pictures of the soul.

Edvard Munch

Art is a window to other experiences and ideas.  In my paintings I explore the power of color and composition as captured in a canvas.  Each image contains a little universe in which I play with forms and colors to convey certain feelings to the viewer.

The images in my paintings capture moments in time.  I do not aim to reproduce the world, but to embody varied feelings in my paintings. These may be feelings that I have witnessed in other people or felt myself.  The action of putting any ideas on a canvas stops them from being solely mine and makes them more universal.  My goal is not to have the viewer interpret the paintings exactly how I intended, but to view the forms and colors and have an emotional response to them.  Our interpretations depend of our own experiences.  I want to have each viewer interpret the images in front of them according to their own understanding of the world.  This way the paintings stop being solely mine and become theirs too.
